The Unseen Playmate: made from upcycled porcelain babydoll bust gifted to me by my wonderful boyfriend. assembled with various papers, paints, metal paints, rusting techniques, acrylic staining, muslin, canvas, brass tacks, and thorns.
Inspired by the poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. The child’s imaginary friend, the ghostly playmate. This also makes me think of the entity that bounces the ball late at night in the second floor hallway of the Grand Midway Hotel.

Myself and the mixed media art piece done for The Grand Midway’s Poe room. The Grand Midway is a historic and notoriously haunted hotel built in the early 1800s, that is currently the private residence of several artists and creative folks of all kinds and owned by a dear friend and gentleman, Blair Murphy. I was honored to do this piece for this fantastic room that now houses one of the oldest, most pristine, and extensive first edition Poe collections.
Light painting photo done by a hotel inhabitant who, respectively, wishes to remain anonymous.

Victorian photo set #2 by Angela Harshman. This hat….was fantastic, I never wanted to take it off, but was terrified I’d break it while wearing it.

Since I started Morose & Macabre in 2009, I’ve been fortunate enough to share my work with artists and art lovers alike. On a few rare occasions, usually at exhibitions and events, I get to meet the fantastic and wicked folks who indulge in our dark side. A couple from my area, have been large supporters of my work for a couple of years and I’ve befriended them since. They are an artistic couple, themselves. Both photographers. I recently had the pleasure of working with Angela Harshman, and will soon be working with her husband, Tim. This is the “circus” photoset from my experience with this fantastic woman. I will also include the dark victorian photoset, and the doll photoset that we worked on in a latter post.
More photos from this set can be seen on my web page at www.moroseandmacabre.com/macabrenoir
I should also add that the fantastic skirt in these was hand crafted by Evil Lily Originals and the cincher was made by Louise Black, both are fabulous and talented women in their own right.

Weeping Post Mortem Pillow doll by Macabre Noir
Post mortem photography was a tradition in honoring the dead and as a reminder of immortality and memento for the living. The weeping post mortem memento pillow doll holds a post mortem heat transfered print of mourning mother and child. Her body is made from soft muslin, stained and distressed with tea-esque and grey/blue acrylic washes. The heat transfer is framed by stained, crocheted lace, darning floss, and various buttons. She is hand painted with acrylic paint (NOT A PRINT DOLL).
Measures 16 in tall by 8 in wide.
